Most Searched Keywords – A 2 Step Process
Article by Kelvin Johnstone
Before I address the subject of most searched keywords, I would like to define Keyword. A keyword is a word which occurs in a text more often than we would expect to occur by chance alone. In the world of search engines and more specifically Google, a keyword can be comprised of many words.
A few words are often termed "short tail keywords" while many words are referred to as "long tail keywords". A search for short tail keywords will produce many more results than a search for long tail keywords. For example, at the time of writing, a Google search for "digital camera" produced 74,000,000 results while a search for "what is the best digital camera to buy" produced results of only 59,000.
From the perspective of an internet marketer, the goal is not to simply look for the most searched keywords, but rather, the most searched long tail keywords within a specific niche. Two of the main criteria used by Google in ranking or indexing a website are Keyword Rich Content and Quality Keyword Rich links to the website. Simply adding unrelated most searched keywords such as "CNN" or "Paris Hilton" would serve no purpose if you were marketing digital cameras.
The process for finding most searched keywords within a specific niche is simple:
*Identify long tail niche related which are popular - At least 1000 exact phrase local results*Ensure the competition which are Google Search Engine results are under 100,000
Make it a habit to incorporate these keywords in each and every marketing activity. Use them in your domain name, websites, sales pages, articles, forums, blogs, and emails. Do this consistently and you will find yourself on the first or second page of Google in no time.
Finding most searched keywords can be done manually, however, it can become a very time consuming and mundane task.
