Article by Angela Chase Marketing Pro
Backlinks are simply links on other sites that link back to yours. So let's say you have a note posted on Facebook and you tell the reader, your Fan to visit your site for more information. The link on Facebook is a backlink to your site.
The example above is a great way to backlink and get targeted exposure to your blog. Someone who wants to read an article about dogs will not link to your blog, but someone optimizing Facebook certainly will check your Fanpage out if you promise to explain Facebook's importance and how they can profit!
Speaking of Facebook, there are a few things you can do to promote your Fanpage and your blog or website including Fanpages, tagging and notes. All have a specific strategy and are excellent ways to be seen as a value to your fans.
When visiting any other Fanpages, visit and comment from your Fanpage. If you don't have one, please visit my site where I have information, videos and you can always contact me personally for more information. Let's say you go to someone's Fanpage and find incredibly useful information, not just the usual links to a bazillion affiliate links, but really beneficial information that helps you work out a problem, say how to create a Fanpage in a simple easy to use way. Now you should say at least one positive thing you learned and Like the page. Two days later the Fanpage admin sees your polite comment, will then link to your page, sees you have incredible content as well and Likes your page. You now have more visibility because Fans of the Fanpage you found with excellent content will visit you.
So, from your Fanpage, visit other people's pages and Fanpages, making useful comments that are adding to and helping improve the community. With positive, relevant comments, people know you are a real person and not just a spammer. When they know you are real, they are more likely to link back to your Fanpage and click Like…btw, be sure you Like their page too!
Netequette: Do not post your links on anyone's Fanpage without asking first. I did that being a newbie and got a very nice "please don't do that again." They were totally cool about it and I am still a fan of their page today.
The other benefit of having other Fanpages link to your Fanpage and see your useful and relevant content, they will Like and your content will be shared on their page as well. If you build a positive relationship, they may even ask you to contribute to their page as well. Facebook is a wonderful community that way.
